Sc – Single crochet

Ribbed Cowl: 

Approx. 14″ long

Ch 20.
1. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Hdc in next 18 chs. Turn. ( 19 sts)
2. – 36. Work in Back Loops Only (BLO)
Ch 1. Hdc in same st. Hdc in next 18 sts. Turn. (19 sts)

Fold piece in half with ribs going vertically. Sl st down the side forming a cowl.

Hood:

Approx 14″ long
Ch 26.
1. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Hdc in next 24 chs. Turn. (25 sts)
2. – 45.  Ch 1. Sc, dc in same st as ch. *Sk next st. Sc, dc in next st.* work 11 times. Sk next st. Sc in last st. Turn. (25 sts)
46. Ch 1. Hdc in each st across. Tie off.

Hooded Cowl Construction: 

Fold hood in half, with the one hdc end laying on the other. Sl st along the top with the hdc row facing in the front of the hood. Next, place the hood inside the inside-out cowl, so right sides are facing each other. Pin in place.

Using your needle and a length of same-color yarn, overcast stitch all around where your pins are. Flip the cowl down.
